Parking
There is limited parking within the community of Lake Chaparral, and the resident's Board of Director's has requested that we have everyone participating in the event park along the cross streets and DO NOT PARK along the "main drag – Chaparral Drive" of the community leading into the lake. This will ease the congestion around the transition area, and make everyone's event much more enjoyable. We respectfully ask that you obey this rule, and hope it doesn't cause any inconvenience. We have reserved some handicapped parking within the parking lot of the lake should this be required, however this will only be allowed for handicapped persons.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Swim........COURSE MAP
Olympic Triathlon = 1.5km
Sprint Triathlon = 750m

A 1 (Sprint) or 2 (Olympic) triangular lap (clockwise) swim course will be in the warm, and comfortable setting of Lake Chaparral. Due to the number of athletes competing we will be starting from the South end of the beach area. The swim caps (provided in race package) must be worn throughout the entire swim course to ensure safety of all athletes during this time. YOU MUST START IN THE HEAT DESIGNATED TO YOU ABOVE IN THE ITINERARY (YOU WILL BE DESQUALIFIED IF YOU START IN THE WRONG HEAT, and this is your responsibility to know which heat is which). The course will be patrolled by the Lake Chaparral motorized boat, as well as lifeguard volunteers in rowboats. Athletes are asked that if they are feeling any trouble or difficulty during the swim portion to raise their hand and a volunteer medical staff will be there to assist you within seconds.

The Bike........COURSE MAP
Olympic Triathlon = 38.5km - 5 laps
Sprint Triathlon = 15.5km - 2 laps

Exit transition Westbound on Chaparral Drive. Follow Chaparral Dr SE around to 194st. Turn Left (East) on 194st and follow to the 'end of the line'!
180degree turnaround and return up 194st (there's a nice hill!) to turn Right (North) on Chapala Dr. SE. and follow straight until you get back to Chaparral Drive. Left Turn to begin your next or finish!

Please keep in mind that the course will be open to vehicle traffic, and you are to treat this event as any other training ride and be very road wise while on the course. Vehicles will always have the right of way at intersections, and we will have volunteers as well as City of Calgary Police to stop traffic when athletes are approaching, but remember you are responsible for your own safety while out on the course, and accidents can happen. So please remember to look around you while on the course to foresee any unfortunate incidents that can occur. Remember to have fun on the course, and keep safety at the utmost priority (losing a second is better than a trip in the ambulance!)

The Merrell Run ........COURSE MAP
