LOCATION & PARKING

Location:
Athletes traveling from the South of Edmonton - Follow Gateway Blvd North to the Ellerslie Rd. offramp and take the exit to go East (Right). The entrance to Summerside is approximately 1km away.
Athletes traveling from the North can take Calgary to the Ellerslie Rd. offramp and take the exit to go East (Left) at the lights. You're here!!!

Parking
There is limited parking within the community of Summerside and being a new community there is plenty of construction going on.

There is ample parking SOUTH of our transition area.
There will be no parking allowed along the West side of 88st south of the lake.  Parking is allowed on either side of 88st North of the lake.  Additional parking is available south of the lake.  See attached map for details. Please remember that all applicable parking rules are in effect, so please ensure you adhere to the signs around the race site area.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Swim........COURSE MAP
Olympic Triathlon = 1.5km
Sprint Triathlon = 750m
Tri It = 300m

A ½ (Tri it distance), 1 (Sprint) or 2 lap triangular (clockwise) swim course.  The swim caps (provided in race package) must be worn throughout the entire swim course to ensure safety of all athletes during this time. The volunteers/lifeguards will line the GPS measured course. The course will be patrolled by the motorized boat, as well as canoes and kayaks. Athletes are asked that if they are feeling any trouble or difficulty during the swim portion to raise their hand and a volunteer medical staff in the boats will be there to assist you within seconds.   Upon completion of the swim, athletes will run approximately 100m along the shoreline to enter transition.

Olympic Triathlon & Duathlon= 39km
Sprint Triathlon = 19.5km
Tri it = 12km

The 2 lap Olympic course (1 lap sprint) will head South out of transition along 91st ST. Following 91st, this will turn into Savaryn Drive and it will take you westward to Parsons Rd. Turn left on Parsons Rd to Ellerslie Rd. Turn left onto Ellerslie Rd and follow this to 101st. Follow 101st down to TWP510 and return to the start. Olympic athletes begin their second lap passing through the round-a-bout in front of the Lake.
Tri it - will start the same, but will turn around at 41ave SW.
Olympic Duathlon - will follow the same Olympic course


*note: you will be cycling AGAINST traffic in the south lanes. We have 2 lane road closure on Ellerslie and will be splitting it for outgoing and incoming cyclists.


TAKE CAUTION AND STAY TO TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD.
Police and volunteers will man the key intersections. Please be cautious. Draft marshals will patrol the course.


The Merrell Run ........COURSE MAP

Olympic Triathlon & Duathlon= 10km ** 4 LAPS
Sprint Triathlon = 5km **2 LAPS
Tri it = 2.5km

The 1 lap (Tri it). 2(sprint) or 4 lap course will wind in and around the Summerside Community. The course will exit transition and head north to Summerside Drive. Athletes will cross Summerside Drive onto the NEW paved walking path. Follow to Ellerslie Rd and take a left along the sidewalk. Follow this to 91st where you will take another Left turn down onto the gravel trail. Follow this over the footbridges back onto the pathway and return along the lagoon towards the paved path. A Right Turn at the path will take you back to the start to begin your next lap!
Duathlon - 1st run is 10km (4 laps), 2nd run is 5km (2laps)
Please wear your race number on the front of your jersey/t-shirt (no bare chests allowed).
